Raising awareness of the plastic problem with young kids is great. They will then grow up realising the importance of keeping the planet clean. Little things can make a big difference. Why not teach your kids about why biodegradable plasters are good, how they work and why they solve a problem. Or let them explain to their friends why their toothbrush is made from bamboo. That friend might go home and speak to their parents about it and plant a seed.
I taught my nieces how to build ecobricks and now they're all building one at home.
Going plastic free or reducing waste with children can be a really fun activity too. It not only makes them think, but also makes you think. They might ask questions that you hadn't thought of or pull you up when you're having a moment of laziness.
If you look at the recent events, things such as the school climate strikes and global influencers like Greta Thunberg you realise just how much of a good impact kids can have. And they need to, it's their planet that we're currently protecting.
