How To Make Homemade Bath Bombs

Homemade DIY Natural Bath Bomb

DIY Natural Bath Bombs

Everyone loves a nice relaxing at-home spa experience and there's no better way to relax with a homemade natural bath bomb.

Here's how we make our bath bombs using only natural ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 100g Bicarbonate of Soda
  • 25g Cornflour
  • 50g Citric Acid
  • 2 tbsp oil (we prefer olive or coconut oil)
  • 4 drops essential oil
  • 2 drops liquid food colouring or a dry natural colour eg Madder
  • Optional: Decorative lavender, or flower petals

These ingredients make 4 bath bombs.

Equipment

  • Whisk
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon
  • Muffin tin, yoghurt pot or biscuit cutters and a tray

Method

1. First, mix all the dry ingredients together (Bicarbonate of Soda, Cornflour and Citric Acid)

2. If you are adding a dry colour, add this to the same mixture

3. Mix the oil with the essential oil in a separate bowl. If you are adding food colouring, mix in with the wet ingredients

4. Slowly add the oil to the dry ingredients, whisking the mixture together

5. Add a few drops of water and mix quickly. Note that water reacts with Citric Acid and will start to bubble so mix fast. It's best to complete this in a dry room.

6. Clump the mixture together in your hands and add to your baking tin or pot. Push down into the mould with a metal spoon.

7. Leave the mixture to dry for 2-4 hours

8. Using a spoon, take the bath bombs out of the tray and store in an airtight container

We love to gift these homemade bath bombs at Christmas in a glass jar wrapped in twine and dried oranges and lemons.
